Summer Preview: Backyarding in the Grove

backyarding title Here is a preview of our upcoming summer series: Backyarding in the Grove. Living through western Pennsylvania winters can be exhausting. The first warm day everyone starts making a long summer “to do” list with hiking, camping and biking trips and then before you’ve checked anything off, snow. The best way to stretch the summer months is having a backyard “living room” that you can enjoy everyday. If you have your morning coffee in your backyard, have dinner in your backyard, then throw in a few late-night gatherings in your backyard, summer will seem twice as long. Need some inspiration? Stephen Shimek and his wife Missy from Landscape Design transformed his backyard last summer.

Have a ridiculously small backyard? No worries. I put my backyard together on a budget. With the help of family, a sale at Home Depot, and ikea, I put together an outdoor “living room” that is so small that it literally feels like a room.

Wicker chairs from Grandma, outdoor rug and wood chairs from ikea, moving-pallet coffee table from my mom’s work, and a chiminea from Amazon.
Once again, outdoor globe lights make all the difference.
Size doesn’t matter.
